Devon Sprint Meet


Exeter City Swimming Club entered 39 swimmers into the last days of the Devon County Championships. The Sprint Gala saw 15 boys & 24 girls, aged between 9 – 14, compete in all four strokes over 50 metre sprints.
Paul Jackson BAGCAT Coach said “There were some fantastic swims from everyone that took part and many personal best times fell” he went on to say “Everyone had something to be proud of. “
The club gained a total of 21 medals, 9 Gold, 7 Silver & 5 Bronze. Georgia Cotterill (9) & Laura Shears (12) each took 3 Gold medals each along with 1 silver & 1 bronze respectively. Edward Jackson took 2 Golds & 2 Silvers. All 3 took 1st place BAGCAT trophies, for consistently achieving high performance. Adele Shire took Gold for the 11 year old girls Freestyle and 2 Bronzes which gave her 2nd place BAGCAT trophy for her age group. Amy Cole (12) took 1 Silver, Tom Wadeley-Jones took 2 Bronzes, both finishing with a BAGCAT trophy, Joe Cotterill (11) & Sam Collett (13) both took 1 Bronze. Sam Jackson who didn’t managed to medal, did achieved consistently good results and managed to finish 6th in the BAGCAT competition.

The full team list was Georgia Cotterill, Megan Galliford, Emma Watkinson, Abigail Gray, Jenny Ingledew, Cameron Bedford, Liam Colbourne, James Lee all 9 years. Swimming in the 10 year category were, Adele Shire, Jo Saunders, Victoria Bishop, Chelsi Thomas, Ed Jackson, James Bailey, Matthew Thorne & George Doggett. 11 year old swimmers were Megan Watkinson, Sammy Gray, Lydia Taylor, Gabby Martin, Chloe Hartland, Chloe Goss and Jessica McCabe, Joe Cotterill, Elliott Randall, Daniel Goodchild and Alistair Watling. Swimmers in the 12 year age group were Laura Shears, Amy Cole, Johanna Bailey Georgina Rutter, Thomas Wadeley-Jones and Dominic Wooldrige. In the 13 years category there were Bethany Smith, Charlotte Stead, Sam Jackson, Sam Collett. In the oldest age group 14 years was Pippa Rutter. All of which produced exceptional swims.
