Exeter City – PERFORMANCE SQUAD

QUALIFYING REQUIREMENTS:       Performance – 6x a week to include one am, plus two landwork a week

HOW TO JOIN:              Most swimmers join from either the BAGCAT or Competition Squad and some transfer from other local clubs.

COST:                            Monthly training fees of £55.00 plus annual membership fee

QUALIFYING REQUIREMENTS:       Performance + - 7+ times a week, to include two am’s, plus two landwork a week

HOW TO JOIN:              Swimmers join from Performance Squad on application and invitation only.  For a maximum of 10 swimmers who must commit to a 12 month programme.

COST:                            Monthly training fees of £68.00 plus annual membership fee

Exeter City – SENIOR SQUAD

QUALIFYING REQUIREMENTS:       For former national level Exeter City swimmers who are unable to commit to the full requirements of the Performance+ Squad.

HOW TO JOIN:              Invitation only. 

COST:                            Monthly training fees of £35.00 plus annual membership fee

 

 

 

 

Further Information

The priority is for swimmers to have achieved high requirements in terms of attitude, skills, technique, performance times and endurance. Swimmers in this group are expected to meet more rigorous demands in practice and preparation. No swimmer may enter this group without a conference with their parents, their age group coach and the Head Coach. This meeting will be used to present the expectations placed on swimmers in terms of attendance at both practices and meets, attitudes towards training (both swimming & landwork), effort, nutrition, etc.

 

Focus

To promote teamwork by allowing advanced swimmers to reach for the highest levels of District & National competition.

Age

13+

Required Practice Attendance

Performance – 6x a week to include one am, plus two landwork a week

Performance + - 7+ times a week, to include two am’s, plus two landwork a week

Recommended Competitions

British Nationals/Major Championship Trials, Youth Nationals, Age Group Nationals, Western Counties, Devon Championships, Level 1 + 2 Open Meets, Club Championships, Interclub Galas as selected

Required Time Standards For Entry Into Group

Western Counties qualifying time on 200m IM, and one other of 100m+ or one National time

Required Test Sets To Be In Group

16 x 100m freestyle with 8 on 1:40 and 8 on 1:30

12 x 100m kick on 2:10 (only 4 of the 100’s are allowed to be brs, and 3 have to be brs)

8 x 200m IM on 4:00 (totally legal)

Focus Training

Specializing toward swimmer event (sprint, distance, stroke) & 400m IM for the majority

Landwork

Possible weights, stretching, bands, core strength circuit, Swiss ball, medicine ball. All swimmers in this group are expected to supplement their team sessions with landwork at home/the gym. It is essential that Youth swimmers upwards are on a weights programme.

Commitment Level

Swimming must be the athlete’s primary activity. Swimmers must commit to the highest level in every area of training, goal setting, attendance, and giving back to the team. Swimmers are expected to enter all Championship events that they qualify for (Devon’s, Western’s, National’s) in conjunction with their coach’s wishes A log book of all sessions must be completed.
